The field name "Spirgarten" was first mentioned in 1735 on a site map.
Big celebrations in Zurich: The Best Western Hotel Spirgarten celebrated its 60th anniversary on June 16, 2018 with an open house.
Since 1958 the Spirgarten has been transformed from a district center to today's international brand hotel with restaurant and event offer. One of the highlights and successes in the history of recent years is Hotel Director Christophe Rouiller's constant expansion and renovation as well as the daily passion of his team.
For the 60th anniversary of the three-star hotel on Altstetten Lindenplatz in the west of Zurich, the team organized an open house on June 16, 2018 for all those interested.
From the original district center with residential and commercial buildings, assembly halls and hotel with restaurant from 1958, the current international brand hotel with restaurant and large event offer has been transformed into comprehensive renovations and measures over the past decades. For the holiday, in addition to food and drinks, regular tours of the hotel and many glances behind the scenes of the Spirgarten are offered.
Hotel Director Christophe Rouiller is happy about the anniversary of his company: "In addition to the numerous developments and renovations in recent years, I am particularly proud of my employees: they are the path to success. With their warmth and passion, as well as the consistency of our team, we work together to inspire the guests day after day and to let them spend a great time in the Spirgarten."
With renovations to success
The field name "Spirgarten" was first mentioned in 1735 on a site map - Spirgarten means "garden with a memory". With a redesign of the terrain in Altstetten, in the west of Zurich, the history of the Spirgarten began in 1942.
About the founded in 1946 Initiativgenossenschaft Lindenhof Altstetten, short IGLA, created the blueprints for residential and commercial buildings and a hotel, including restaurant and halls for local clubs. Finally, in June 1958, the newly designed Lindenplatz including the Spirgarten hotel was inaugurated with two restaurants, 25 rooms and five halls.
As hotel director at that time Hans Menzi was responsible, later Willi Brüggemann and Walter Greiner followed as restaurant owners.
Following renovations of the restaurant and reception in the following years, Leo Demarmels became the hotel director from 1976 onwards, and for 35 years has shaped the history of the Hotel Spirgarten. Under his leadership, new hotel rooms and a generous foyer were created. In addition, the rooms have been renovated and the restaurant 8048 completely rebuilt.
In 2011, Christophe Rouiller took over the management of the former 39-room hotel. To date, extensive innovations have been made: a total renovation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning in the halls, a renovation of existing rooms, the start of cooperation with the international brand Best Western in 2014 and by spring 2018 the construction of a new production and manufacturing kitchen and ten additional guest rooms. These expand the offer of the house to now 49 rooms and all offer a direct view of the historic Lindenplatz.
